After reading the piece about Donaghy drifting in to the Full Forward line after the KO, it seems that this was a feature of Kildares play against Mayo also, where Kevin Feely would field KOs and once possession is secure he would make his way toward the Full Forward line. Something similar to what a Centre would do playing Basketball.
I felt this created problems for Kildare that I hope Kerry don’t repeat.
– If the ball is turned over you are missing a physical figure in the middle, ovr lap easily created agaist you.
– If the ball is not moved fast then you are missing some one who can physically break the line, too many times Kildares running at “speed” with the ball resulted in running across the field, in circles or into mismatches.
